MONTE GENOVA

It’s hot. The sun is high, the air shimmers above the asphalt. We’ve been driving for a few hours. Fabi is sitting beside me, the window down, wind tangling her hair. She looks out silently.
The landscape flows past — dry, barren, dotted with brittle shrubs. Then we stop, step out of the car, and let our gaze wander toward the open horizon.
Before us, the Desert des Agriates: vast and still. The heat settles on our skin, and the air smells of dry earth.
